Tanderra Craft Village was established in 1990 as a community centre to provide an outlet for locally made handcrafts, and a permanent home for the development of crafts in Whyalla. The craft displayed for sale comes from as far away as Ceduna on the west coast and Port Lincoln in the south, Port Augusta in the north and Laura in the mid-north. The reputation of this craftwork is travelling far and wide as local, interstate and overseas visitors take their purchases home. The complete village, craft market, specialty shops, special interest groups and tearooms are generally open on the last weekend of each month from 10am to 4pm on both days. Open at other hours for various resident groups to meet and work on their crafts throughout the week and invite visitors with similar interests to call in.
